Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?
Dress is casual. We're more concerned with meeting your life needs than with what you wear. Wear what makes you comfortable!
How long are your services?
They usually last right around an hour. They're never longer than an hour and fifteen minutes.
Will I have to sign something? Will I be singled out as a visitor?
We can assure you that you will never be singled out or embarrassed at Powell Church. Though we do receive an offering, we don't want anyone to feel obligated to give.

If you decide you'd like to know more about us, you can visit our Guest Services window. Although we would like to know more about you and provide you a tell us more about you card with the Guest Services information packet, if you'd prefer not to fill it out, that's all right with us. You can also fill out the tear-off card inside your bulletin and place it in the offering bags during the service if you'd like to share your contact information or even submit an anonymous prayer request.
What about my kids?
Powell Church has an excellent children's programs for kids of all ages. We have a comfortable, fully-staffed nursery available during all of our services. Of course, we welcome you to keep your children with you during worship if you prefer. We also have a convenient, sound-proof cry room (complete with sink, microwave, changing table, and rockers) in the back of the Worship Center for those with little ones who need to get away.

We invite you to stop by the Guest Services window in the main welcome area of the church when you visit. They'll get you headed in the right direction without pressure. We also invite you to find our more about our children's programs by browsing through their respective sections on this site.

What kind of church are you?
Powell Church is a United Methodist Church. You can find out everything you would ever want to know about that by visiting the UMC website.

While we are proud of our affiliation and our history, we are also a church home to people from every different kind of religious background. Baptists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Atheists, Agnostics, and NOTAs (None of the Above's) all have found a home at Powell.

Most importantly, Powell Church is a safe place for people who are looking for answers to their spiritual questions. It's also a place where those who have decided to follow Jesus Christ can learn and be encouraged in their spiritual growth.
