Powell Church Outreach
We take our mission statement seriously at Powell Church.

To “meet the needs of people” means that we put emphasis on our outreach work. The following pages give you a good glimpse of what we do.

Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday from 1pm-2pm except on holidays. Any Powell resident is eligible to receive food once per month. There is no fee for this service.

“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” John 6:3

Highways and By-Ways Highways and By-Ways
In 1984, Preacher Bob arrived in Knoxville with only two changes of clothes and $25. Preacher Tom Coulter helpd Bob get on his feet and Bob met his wife, Mary. In 1987 Highways and By-Ways Ministry was formed. It was formed to help street souls one-on-one under bridges, railroad tracks, local grave yards, and homeless camps in the Knoxville area.

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18

Servant Evangelism
Servant Evangelism is a practical way to reach out to others through simple kindness. In the past, we have given out free chips at the grocery store on Super Bowl Sunday and free stamps at the post office on Tax Day.

This is one way we can reach out to the community to let them know the best things in life are free....just like God's love for them!

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28

United Methodist Women United Methodist Women
Powell Church has a strong program for the United Methodist Women. The UMW's of Powell Church share a common goal: they are women united to serve.
