Powell Church has a mission statement that helps define who we are – “Win People to Jesus Christ, Make Disciples, and Meet the Needs of People.” But, that all sounds intense, so what does this really mean to you? Win People to Jesus Christ The most important thing we can do on this earth is introduce you to Jesus Christ, the only Son of God who came to earth so you could have abundant and eternal life. The only thing you have to do is ask Him to take charge of your life. But, we know that accepting a free gift like this is sometimes difficult, so we want to give you the time and freedom to examine Him, question Him, and build a relationship with Him. He’s not afraid of your questions and neither are we because we know from personal experience that the decision to let Christ into your life is the best decision you will ever make. Make Disciples Once you’ve accepted Christ and let Him take charge of your life, we know you will want to take the next step to learn more about Him and build a deeper relationship with Him. At Powell Church, we are committed to help you grow through prayer, reading the Bible, meeting with other Christians, and practical ways to apply what you’re learning. Following Christ is a 24/7 commitment and we’re here to help you each step of the way. Jesus’ first followers were called disciples and we continue His example by helping you become a 21st century disciple of Christ. Meet the Needs of People One of the first things we learn from Christ is that we are not put on this earth for our own self interests. We aren’t even here to build Powell Church. Jesus continually challenges us to give ourselves away in service and ministry to others. The Church is to serve people just like Christ served people. Our commitment is to help you find people to serve with and places to reach out to. Our mission is to meet the spiritual and physical needs of those around us each day that need Christ.
