From the beginning, a church has been a place where people speak the same words of good news in many different languages. We are a church of republicans and democrats, newborn babies and great grandparents, and every season of life, held together by something greater than any of us that unites all of us. Because of this, we work better together to make a difference in our real community, so Powell Church might be good news for Powell and Knox County even if you don’t go to Powell Church. One body, many parts.

What We Believe

We affirm the historic Nicene and Apostle’s Creeds, truths held together by Christians in every major denomination for 1,700+ years. 

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 

Powell Church is a United Methodist congregation. All persons are welcome to participate in the life of the church.  

 FAQs

  • Our 9:30 and 11:00 AM services are in the worship center on the east side of the church. Youth meet in the traditional sanctuary on the west side, and our children's ministry areas (elementary worship in the bubble, preschool, and nursery) are also on the west side. In the worship center lobby, come by our guest services area and our team will be happy to lead your family to the check-in area for children's ministries on the west side. You'll also find coffee and snacks at our hospitality area in the worship center lobby.

  • Powell Church is a come as you are church; you'll find people wearing what they find most comfortable, from jeans and t-shirts to business casual. 

  • Our praise band features gifted musicians leading in worship every Sunday. We sing a wide range of music, including a hymn every week. Our choir performs seasonal concerts at Christmas and Easter.
